Hello! I’m Alissa, a birth worker from the mountain town of Tehachapi, California. My journey into this work began with the birth of my son. My labor was anything but easy. It was loud, raw, intense, and entirely mine. I howled my baby into the world on my terms, and that experience awakened something deep within me. It showed me that birth is not something to fear, but something powerful to move through and embrace. In the days and weeks that followed, that experience stayed with me. It softened me and deepened my respect for just how much it takes physically, emotionally, and mentally to bring a baby into the world. It also made one thing very clear: feeling supported, informed, and truly cared for can change everything. No one should have to walk through that kind of transformation alone.
