We are proud to be Fresno County's first Baby-Friendly Hospital—and one of only 95 hospitals and birth centers in California to earn this distinction. Being "baby-friendly" means we have board-certified lactation consultants on staff who support all mothers by assuring they have the information needed to make an informed choice about how they feed their baby. No matter what decision she makes, every mom's choice is respected with evidence-based teaching. To get this new chapter off to the best start, your nurses and care team will encourage you to practice skin-to-skin contact and exclusive breastfeeding.

Lactation consultants help with feeding: latch, supply, pumping, bottles, going back to work, weaning. IBCLC is the international board credential and takes years of clinical hours to earn. CLC and CLE are shorter certifications. Many consultants do home visits, and a lot of them now see families over video too.
