How this directory works

Where do the listings come from?

The backbone is the federal NPI Registry, the public list of healthcare providers that includes doulas, midwives, nurse-midwives and lactation consultants. We add hand-checked lists and the details providers give us when they claim a page. Nothing is copied from other directories or review sites.

Does Mothership vet these providers?

Unclaimed pages show what the public record says: name, role, city, phone. We don't vet them. Claimed pages have been verified as belonging to the person named, and the verified-members directory is a separate, stricter list. Always confirm credentials directly.

I'm a birthworker. How do I claim or remove my page?

Every unclaimed page has a Claim button and a Remove button. Both send a code to the email on record, or go to a person on our team if we have no email. Claiming is free. Removing is permanent, and we never re-list you afterward.

How do reviews work?

Reviews are written by signed-in Mothership members and read by a person before they go live. Providers can't pay for placement, and reviews stay independent of who has claimed what. Where a provider's own website publishes testimonials or links to their Google page, we link to it; we never copy review text from other sites.

Can I use this data?

Yes, for helping families. There is a read-only JSON feed at https://eatmothership.com/api/directory/listings and a plain-text index at https://eatmothership.com/llms.txt. Please link back to the listing page, and respect removals.

What we never do

• Publish a provider's email address. Messages are relayed, so the address stays private.
• Copy text, photos or reviews from another website.
• Charge a provider to be listed, or rank anyone higher for paying.
• Re-list someone who asked to be removed.
• Email a provider who didn't start a claim or receive a message from a parent.
